EPP President: Viktor Orbán was one of the foolish guys at the EU summit
The leader of the European People’s Party was furious: Manfred Weber said Orbán was one of the foolish guys at the EU summit.
Blackmailing
“Viktor Orbán blackmailed other European leaders at the EU summit and represented the interests of President Vladimir Putin at the negotiating table,”
Manfred Weber, the newly elected president of the European People’s Party last week, said in the European Parliament on Wednesday during the debate on the EU summit. As Euronews reports, Weber said that the overall outcome of last week’s EU summit was good, that progress had been made and that they were on the right track.
Orbán represents Putin’s interests
However, Weber added,
“I don’t understand why no one who has spoken so far has mentioned Viktor Orbán’s name.”
In his opinion, when people look at what happened at the last EU summit, they see that “Viktor Orbán was one of the foolish guys at the table”. Weber wondered what it must have been like to sit next to him, to live through Viktor Orbán’s blackmail, and to see the Hungarian prime minister representing Putin’s interests at the negotiating table.
The politician admitted that he had “a long personal history with Viktor Orbán”, who he said “was kicked out of the EPP two years ago”.
Not a time for decision-making
According to the EPP politician, this issue is important because many people in Europe feel and understand that the current structure is not appropriate for decision-making.
Weber said that this is the reason why the bridging clause of the Lisbon Treaty should have been initiated. This would allow for a derogation from unanimity in certain cases, i.e. no member state leader would have the veto right.
Too much money goes to Russia
Even before the EU summit, the German politician said that Russia’s war against Ukraine makes it “morally unacceptable” that hundreds of millions of euros are being transferred from the EU to Moscow every day.
“Frankly, I am fed up with Viktor Orbán dictating the pace,”
Manfred Weber said.

Weber, the EU logo is union through diversity or something to that effect. Weber is only complaining because his power is checked every time a country does not agree with his Marxist philosophy. Ukraine/Russia war has nothing to do with the EU. US and UK were the only countries that guaranteed Ukraine’s safety when Ukraine surrendered nuclear arsenal. Weber wants all EU countries to pay for the war and all EU countries are paying for it, including Hungary by having about 700 thousand Ukrainians crossed into and through Hungary. However, unlike Hungary, many other countries are supplying Ukraine with weapons, this allows for the extension of the war, the destruction of Ukrainian cities, the number of Ukrainian deaths and number is refugees. The EU is also alienating 144 million Russians, this does not bode well for future cooperation. Short sighted people, like Weber, should never be given platforms because they sound naive and stupid. This reflects badly on the institutions that it represent.
I agree with you mariavontheresa.
This kind of corrupt politicians who only mislead the people belong in jail.
Are both these commentators advocating – just let Russia invade the lands of the Ukraine ???
Stupidity of a postion, if that’s what they are advocating.
Strangulation of Russia, the crippling of its Economy – by the Sanction process – is a SENSIBLE strategy.
The countrys – European Union Members & “others” who have introduced implimented and support the Sanctioning process against Russia must re-design the FUNCTIONALITY of the operation(s) internally of there countrys.
If fragmentation shows signs of not a UNITED front against Russia, this country for one Hungary, irrespective of its alignment relationship with Russia, will come under servere duress likened to post 1945 to 1989.

Take another spoonful of Maple Syrup or another glass of Glogg – and get heads in a better place.
Note to Mindboggling. The Ukrainians were operating chemical weapons labs. They were stockpiling material to make nuclear weapons.
The Americans were chosing their President and had a veto on government ministers. Soros had given a “do not prosecute” list to Obama who forced this on Ukraine.
Ukraine had started to penalise the ethnic Russians in Eastern Ukraine. And do not forget either that they stopped ethnic Hungarians from school lessons in Hungarian language in the former hungarian area around Munkacs.
All while this was going on the ordinary Ukrainians were living a life of hardship with little prospect of rising to the middle class.
The Russians saw the same people who organised the 2014 coup do the same thing with Trump impeachment.
While conflict is to be regretted surely you can understand why the Russians did this?
Weber is still bitter at not getting the top job in EU.
There is no need to take him seriously! Outplayed by Viktor every time!
It is clear, Russia is definitely winning the war. Single handed, raises inflation across the EU and US. It raises the specter of famine across the world by stopping Ukrainian grain exports, the exports of fertilizers as well as the stopping crop planting in Ukraine. Ukrainian cities are destroyed, the death toll is rising and around 5 million people were exiled due to the war.
It is time for men to stop playing war and get to a peace agreement. The citizens of the world deserve better.
